Tara Gomez and Mireia Taribó, founders of Camins 2 Dreams, are a wife and wife team whose winemaking journey is as unique and inspiring as the wines they create. Tara, a member of the Chumash Tribe in California, and Mireia, a native of Catalunya, Spain, come from different backgrounds but share a profound love for wine, winemaking, and nature. Their individual stories highlight their deep connection to the land and the science behind winemaking, and together, they have become champions of diversity, sustainability, and inclusion within the wine industry.
Mireia Taribó
Mireia grew up in Spain, where wine is considered an integral part of daily life. Her interest in wine began at a young age, and she pursued formal studies in chemistry and enology at the University of Barcelona and Rovira and Virgili University. Her career took her from Spain to California, where she met Tara during an internship. After working in prestigious wineries like Castell d’Encus in Spain, Mireia earned her master’s degree in enology, viticulture, and marketing of wine. Her journey led her back to California in 2014, where she began working as a wine broker and consultant while her relationship with Tara deepened.

Tara’s passion for winemaking also began early. Inspired by her parents’ wine-tasting trips and her fascination with science, she earned her degree in enology from CSU Fresno. Tara worked at notable wineries like Fess Parker and J. Lohr before launching her first personal label, Kalawashaq’ Wine Cellars, named after her Chumash ancestors. She later became the winemaker for Kitá Wines, where she made history as the first recognized Native American winemaker in the United States. Tara’s work has earned her widespread acclaim, including being named “Winemaker of the Year” by VinePair in 2021 and The Hue Society in 2022.
Camins 2 Dreams

In 2017, the couple combined their expertise and launched Camins 2 Dreams, their joint venture focused on producing minimal-intervention, terroir-driven wines. The name, meaning "paths to dreams," reflects their shared journey of love, wine, and a commitment to making wines that respect both the land and the workers who cultivate it. Camins 2 Dreams sources fruit from organic, biodynamic, and regenerative vineyards in Santa Barbara’s Sta. Rita Hills, with an emphasis on sustainability and low-intervention winemaking.

As an Indigenous and LGBTQ+ couple, they are passionate advocates for diversity and inclusion, using their platform to uplift marginalized voices. Tara is involved in several organizations aimed at fostering diversity in wine, including The Hue Society, Woman-Owned Wineries, and the James Beard Legacy Network, while Mireia has served on the board of the Sta. Rita Hills Wine Alliance, promoting the unique appellation.
Together, Tara and Mireia are not only producing award-winning wines but also leading the charge for change within the wine industry. Their commitment to diversity, sustainability, and authenticity makes Camins 2 Dreams a brand that stands for more than just great wine—it’s a symbol of progress, community, and the beauty of shared dreams.
